CHANGE IS CALLING...

There’s a pull I can’t ignore: The quiet tug of soil under my nails, the scent of fresh herbs, the soft morning sunlight, the fresh, crisp outdoor air. I find myself reflecting more and more on the life I’ve always dreamed of living. A life that feels rooted, grounded, and true- a feeling that settles deep in my bones, reminding me of who I am and who I’ve always wanted to be. A life connected to nature, to the rhythms of the earth, to living fully and intentionally.

I’ve always considered myself an old soul. From childhood, I’ve been drawn to growing my own food, tending fruit trees, nurturing a garden, and creating things with my own hands. Even then, it felt familiar, as if I had lived this life before in another time. Now, that calling has grown louder. It’s as though the earth herself is nudging me toward the life I’ve always dreamed of. There is something sacred in the fresh air, the soil, and the dance of the trees... A quiet reminder that we are part of something bigger.

I don’t have my own land yet, but I carry that dream with me. For now, I’m building myself up, making small changes that will lead to the life I want: grinding my own wheat, creating plant-based recipes, reducing gluten, and learning to cook and bake in ways that nourish my body and spirit. This path isn’t just about sustainability... it’s about health, healing, and aligning with the life I was meant to live.

I’ve faced my share of challenges- PCOS, anemia, psoriasis, migraines; lately, I’ve been noticing my body reacting differently- gluten, which I once tolerated, has started to feel heavy, and I’m experiencing more sensitivity than before. It’s a reminder that my body needs me to slow down, to listen, and to honor it with care. This isn’t about restriction; it’s about alignment... living in a way that nourishes me fully, body and soul. Maybe all along, my path was calling me back to this lifestyle, the one that offers not just homegrown foods and self-sufficiency, but true wellness and happiness.

This journey isn’t about perfection. It’s about listening, learning, and returning to what is real and sustaining. It’s about planting seeds; iterally and figuratively- that will grow into a life filled with health, joy, and soulful fulfillment.

I invite you to stay for it, to walk this path with me, and maybe, just maybe, to feel a spark of inspiration to create your own intentional, nourishing life.

Canning

I won’t call myself a professional canner, but I’ve been canning for a few years, and I absolutely love it. From pickled relishes to jams, fruits, and even some vegetables, every jar feels like a little piece of magic captured from the season. It’s a skill I continue to grow, and each batch brings me closer to the life I imagine.

Dehydration

Dehydrating my own herbs has become another way to stay grounded and connected to nature. I grow, dry, and store herbs for tinctures, homemade skin and hair products, flavored oils for cooking, and natural remedies. It’s a practice that reminds me of the patience and care inherent in the natural world, and it keeps me close to the rhythm of the seasons.

Rendering Fats

I’ve also explored rendering my own fats:

  • Tallow – made from beef fat, perfect for skincare or cooking.

  • Ghee – clarified butter made slowly from butter.

  • Schmaltz – rendered chicken fat.

These practices reconnect me with old ways of making and storing healthy fats.

Breadmaking and Gluten-Free Exploration

I’ve learned to make bread from freshly ground wheatberries, and now I’m just getting started on creating gluten-free recipes I can enjoy. Baking from scratch, experimenting with flours, and discovering new ways to make food both healthy and comforting has become a joyful part of this journey.

All these practices: Canning, making natural skincare and haircare products, dehydrating herbs, rendering fats, baking bread, and creating healthier and gluten-free recipes, are more than just skills. They are a way to live intentionally, to connect with the natural world, and to honor my body and spirit. Each jar of preserves, each dried herb, each loaf of bread carries a piece of that reverence and care.

I’m stepping into a lifestyle that is intentional. One that approaches life with respect and reverence... for my body, for nature, and for the energy that surrounds us. Every choice, from the foods I eat to the herbs I grow, is guided by this intention. It’s about cultivating health, yes, but also cultivating spirit, grounding myself in the sacred rhythms of the earth.

You will still find my delicious recipes here, full of flavor and love, but I hope you feel the subtle shift in energy... The deeper connection to nature, nourishment, creativity, and life itself. My hope is that as you follow along, you too will feel inspired to care for your body, your spirit, and your surroundings with the same reverence.

This life requires patience, curiosity, and a willingness to slow down. It asks me to notice the sacred in the soil, the air, and the dance of the trees, and to ground myself in the rhythms of nature. Every small step... Planting a seed, harvesting and drying herbs, or reinventing old techniques- is a step toward the life I’ve dreamed of.

You don’t have to share the same goals as me. But I hope I can be an inspiration to you- to take a moment- in your own hectic world; to slow down, breathe, and smell the roses. To nourish your mind and your body, to notice the beauty in small, intentional acts, and to create a little space for your soul to thrive. 🌿✨

Stay for the love, the laughter, the inspiration.

Love,
Samantha ❣️
